If you’re a fan of both barbecue and pizza, then Pigzza might be the perfect restaurant for you. This unique fusion concept was founded by Thomas Ward. He wanted to create a dining experience that brought together the best of both worlds. Check out our interview with Thomas here!
The Inspiration Behind Pigzza
Thomas Ward has always been passionate about entrepreneurship, thanks in part to his father’s career in the ice cream business. When he decided to create Pigzza, he wanted it to be something that would be a regular part of people’s lives. As Ward explains, “Pizza is a weekly tradition,” and he saw an opportunity to bring a little more frequency by incorporating it into a pizza concept.
But this isn’t your typical pizza joint. At Pigzza, Ward and his team have created a menu that merges Pig Floyd’s smoky, savory flavors with the traditional Italian dishes that make pizza so beloved. The result is a fusion of flavors that they call “Italian-ish.” Pigzza also offers pasta, salads, and a variety of snacks and appetizers that are non-traditional to the Italian world.
Expanding Pig Floyd’s
Thomas Wards is always looking for ways to grow his businesses. After the success of Pig Floyd’s, he is opening a second location on Lee Road. Ward is also planning a brunch spot called Peggy Floyd’s Brunch Annette, as well as a dessert shop called Sugar Papi and Sugar Mommy.
With these expansion plans, Ward is careful that each location maintains the same high quality and customer service that he is known for. As he explains, “I’ve always thought that everything that I get into, I want to make it big.” That means taking the time to carefully craft each menu and build a strong foundation before expanding further.
The Pigzza Experience
If you’re in the Orlando area, be sure to mark your calendar for April 18th, when Pigzza is set to open. And if you’re not local, it should make your list of places to stop to eat. With its unique fusion concept and commitment to quality, Pigzza is definitely a restaurant worth checking out.
