The Reality of a Realtor ® – Docuseries Ep. 7

The Reality of an Agent

Not everything will be sunshine and rainbows when working in real estate, but we will always celebrate the highs and solve the lows. Our job is to make this monumental transaction happen as seamlessly as possible for our clients. Sometimes that means giving up a commission check or ‘going to bat’ for our client and keeping a positive outlook on every situation. But that’s the reality of being an agent. Celebrate the wins, but when things get tough, focus on finding a solution for your client. In this episode, we show you the reality of being a Realtor.

This is the Reality of a Realtor

The thing that separates The Nickley Group from most teams is that we are genuinely there to help each other out. We have 40 licensed agents on our team. Some of our agents have 20+ years of experience, and others are just starting their careers. There is always an opportunity for our agents to learn and get advice from the other members. We don’t expect everyone to have the answers; however, we expect our agents to ask questions and find the best solution.

Working with Outside Agents.

We follow Nick Holmes and his experience working with the listing agent of a home his clients were under contract on throughout this episode. Unfortunately, upon inspection, they found that the house had polybutylene piping, and the 2018 AC was not working. Polybutylene piping can be very costly to replace, in some cases costing up to $15,000. This was an expense the buyers were not expecting when they went under contract. In this instance, Nick’s job is to communicate with the listing agent and try to get the best results for his buyer.

They are NOT Just a Commission Check.

Our goal is to do everything in our power to make the client’s real estate dreams come true. Whether they are a first-time home buyer or an experienced investor, we understand the importance of the transaction.

“If you look at someone as a commission check, then it is going to get stressful. I look at it as who can I help today.” – Alexis Nickley.

What truly matters to us is our clients and their experience working with us. Our agents are all full-time real estate agents, so yes, the commission does matter, but at the end of the day, we are here to help.

There is a lot the agent cannot control. Like when Eric Buyes got a call from a lender telling him that a client had quit his job the morning, they got the clear to close. Eric and the lender were able to work their magic, and the client could close on their home.

“When I’m surrounded by 40 other people that have this great attitude and work their asses off and come in every day and treat it like a business and are accountable to their actions, then I’ve always got people to pick me up, and we’ve just been intentional about building that tribe of people that think that way.” Tom Nickley
