The city was founded in 1885 by brothers Benjamin and Joseph Haines. The town eventually grew and matured into what we recognize today, officially incorporated as Haines City in 1916.

It offers plenty of things to do, including shopping centers such as Posner Park Shopping Mall, numerous parks like Lake Eva Park and Lake Hamilton Park, where visitors can enjoy fishing or boating, golf courses like Southern Dunes Golf Club, weekly farmers markets on Fridays at Railroad Park showcasing local goods from growers around the region as well as arts & crafts vendors.
The historic district downtown contains many buildings that date back to the early days of settlement in this area. Residents can stroll down Main Street or explore some old homes here while learning more about this city’s past that contributed to its present-day development!
