More about Kissimmee

Kissimmee's rich history dates back to the mid-1800s when it began as a large cattle ranching area. Over time it became a small trading post for goods such as sugar and fruits, later becoming an official town when postmaster Alexander Stroup set up an office there in 1873. Nowadays, Kissimmee is close to world-famous Theme Parks and beautiful views of Lake Tohopekaliga, home to many species of fish and birds. Its downtown area is full of quaint restaurants, shops, and boutiques that draw tourists nationwide.

The city's climate is usually sunny year-round, with temperatures ranging from lows in the high 40s during winter to highs near 100°F during summertime. The average yearly precipitation for Kissimmee averages around 52 inches. There are also frequent thunderstorms during the summer months, which can sometimes bring strong winds and hail.

Kissimmee boasts many outdoor activities for visitors, including fishing, boating, kayaking, camping, and golfing at some of the best courses in Florida. There are also numerous parks throughout the city, such as Lakefront Park, which features walking trails alongside wildlife areas, or Kampgrounds of America, which offers RV camping sites with all onsite amenities.
